Finally have the time to post an entry on last week's event. It was my friend's wedding. Help him out as his 兄弟. Woke up around 5am on that day, ate a light breakfast, changed up and left my house at around 5.30am. Took a cab over with bear. Reached my friend's house at around 6.15am. His cousin is driving so have to wait for him to set off to his bride's place. Set off at around 7am and reached his bride's place at around 7.30am.
The first thing once we reached there is the gatecrash. The first thing the 姐妹 wants the groom to do is to sign on a paper which was sticked onto the ceiling. Easily done after few of us lifted him up. The second task was to wear a 'specially designed' underwear outer our pants(like a superman). Wore it without much complain. After-which, the task was to drink some beverage off a baby bottle. They told us that there was special ingredient added into the beverage but end up it was just normal drinks. I drank the milo bottle. =D Finally, come to the last part of gatecrash, the giving of the angbao. The 姐妹 wanted $1314 in the beginning and after much bargaining, it was all settled at $388. Haha. After entering the room, it was the usual procedure of the groom lifting the veil.
After-which, we all wanted to go back to the groom's place for the tea ceremony. However, as we missed the first auspicious time, we have to wait for another which is at 11am. Hence, we proceeded for some photo shoot first at one of the park. The weather was really hot that day and all of us was sweating like mad. After the photoshoot, we all went on to the tea ceremony at the groom's place and back to the bride's place again after that.
After everything was done, it was around 2.30pm already. Checked-in to the Mandarin Orchard and rest there for awhile. Later on, Liangsen, bear and I went for a meal at taka. Had Crystal Jade La Mian, Xiao Long Bao. Went back to the hotel around 5pm. Helped out some stuff for the wedding dinner before the guest arrived.
Was running all around with the groom and bride during the dinner. Was told that we might have to help the groom 挡酒 but ended up the groom drank all. Actually kind of feel bad, should be at least helped him drink some. The good thing is that he wasn't drunk after all the drinking. However, the bride got somehow drunk. The 姐妹 also didn't help her. LOL!
After everything was over, we went up to the room to rest for awhile. Kind of happy they celebrated my birthday after midnight. Left not long after and headed back home by cab. Slept until 12pm that afternoon.
Overall, its really a great experience as this is the first time I have been 兄弟 for someone's wedding. Although its tiring, I still finds it cool.
